  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Provide accurate information when creating your account
  • Keep your password secure and confidential
  • Not use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose

Your content

You own your content. The profile information, location data, and connections you create on Friends of Friends belong to you. We don't claim any ownership over your content.

By using Friends of Friends, you grant us permission to store and display your content as necessary to provide the service. This includes:

  • Storing your profile and location data on our servers

You are solely responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, including your profile details and location data. You can request a copy of your data or delete your account at any time by contacting us. When you delete content, we'll remove it from our active systems, though backup copies may persist for up to 90 days.

In-person interactions

Friends of Friends is a platform, not a participant in your interactions. We help you discover connections but we are not involved in, and have no responsibility for, any communications, meetings, or interactions between users.

You should be aware that:

  • We do not vet, background-check, or verify the identity or character of any user
  • We do not verify the accuracy of location information provided by users
  • Any in-person meetings or interactions with other users are entirely at your own risk
  • We do not arrange, facilitate, or endorse any specific meetup or visit

You are solely responsible for determining the identity and suitability of others with whom you may interact through our service. We encourage you to exercise caution, meet in public places, and use good judgment when connecting with others.

Sharing & privacy

Your profile is private by default. You control who can see your information through your sharing settings.

When you connect with others:

  • Only your general area is shared by default—you can optionally share your street address with accepted connections
  • You can revoke access or remove connections at any time

See our Privacy Policy for more details on how we protect your data.

Acceptable use

Friends of Friends is designed to foster genuine, in-person connections. Please don't:

  • Share content that violates others' privacy or rights
  • Use the service to harass, abuse, or harm others
  • Attempt to access other users' accounts or data
  • Use automated tools to scrape or collect data from Friends of Friends
  • Upload malicious code or attempt to disrupt the service

Account termination

By you: You can delete your account at any time from your account settings. Deletion takes effect immediately.

By us, for cause: We may suspend or terminate your account immediately and without notice if you:

  • Violate these terms or our acceptable use guidelines
  • Engage in conduct that is harmful, abusive, or illegal
  • Create a safety risk for other users
  • Attempt to circumvent security measures or access restrictions

By us, without cause: We may terminate your account at our sole discretion for any other reason by providing 30 days' notice via email. We will provide a reason when feasible.

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. We will handle your data in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Third-party services

Friends of Friends relies on third-party service providers for hosting, data storage, email delivery, and other infrastructure. While we choose our providers carefully:

  • We are not responsible for the actions, availability, or data practices of third-party providers
  • Third-party service failures may temporarily affect your ability to use Friends of Friends
  • Your use of Friends of Friends may be subject to the terms and policies of our providers

See our Privacy Policy for details on the third-party services we use and how your data is processed.

Data security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encryption, secure authentication, and access controls. However:

  • No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee that your data will never be accessed, disclosed, or destroyed without authorization
  • We are not liable for unauthorized access to your data despite our security measures
  • In the event of a data breach, we will notify affected users as required by applicable law

Service availability

We work hard to keep Friends of Friends available and reliable, but we can't guarantee uninterrupted service. We may:

  • Perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability
  • Update or modify features to improve the service
  • Discontinue features with reasonable notice

Limitation of liability

Friends of Friends is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for:

  • Any interactions, disputes, or harm arising between users, whether online or in person
  • Loss of data, despite our efforts to prevent it
  • Service interruptions, errors, or security breaches
  • The conduct, actions, or representations of any user
  • Any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages

Our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of Friends of Friends is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Friends of Friends and its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the service

  • Your violation of these terms
  • Your violation of any applicable law or the rights of any third party

Governing law & disputes

These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from or relating to these terms or your use of Friends of Friends will be resolved in the courts of the United States.

Before filing a formal claim, we encourage you to contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue directly.
